Watch: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter…and Spring
Celebrate the changing seasons with this poetic and visually stunning film directed by Kim Ki-duk. Set against the backdrop of a floating monastery in the Korean wilderness, the movie follows the cyclical rhythms of nature and the passage of time, reflecting on life, love and the beauty of existence. Make: Lugaimat
Wednesday, April 10 was the Muslim holiday, Eid al-Fitr, which translates to the festival of the breaking of the fast, celebrating the end of the holy month of Ramadan. See photos of people around the world celebrating Eid here on BBC. Every year around Ramadan, a TikTok account called Moribyan—which I have shared in Passport before because I really do love her content—by a woman named Hajar Larbah does a Ramadan cooking series with all sorts of unique and delicious recipes. Hajar is Moroccan and Libyan—hence the name, Moribyan—which is often reflected in many of her recipes, drawing inspiration from both cuisines and cultures, but not always. From Moribyan’s Ramadan series, let’s make Lugaimat!
Lugaimat are crispy mini donuts resembling donut holes that are popular in North Africa and the Middle East. I’ll leave the instructions for this one to Hajar because I think her videos are so great! You can watch her video making Lugaimat here on TikTok and follow her recipe here on her website. Eid Mubarak and enjoy!
