A couple of weeks ago, I went to a beautiful concert where I was introduced to the work of Mustafa, a Sudanese-Canadian folk musician based in Toronto whose full name is Mustafa Ahmed. In addition to being an extremely talented musician, Mustafa is also a poet and community activist known for his soul-stirring blend of spoken word poetry and melodic soundscapes. At the concert, I was so captivated by his emotive voice and performance at the concert that I instantly became a fan of his—and I was happy to discover his albums contain the same power and intensity as his live performances.
