Watch: Amsterdam My Home
Amsterdam is a city I’ve always wanted to visit—this short film, Amsterdam My Home, has only furthered my interest. This was exactly part of the filmmaker, Albert Dros’ intention behind the project as they write, “I wanted to create a visual experience with beauty, flow and emotion. I want locals to be proud of their city when they watch this film, and tourists wanting to visit (even more).” Successful in this venture, the film is a gorgeous time lapse of Amsterdam’s city center taken over a two year period. My favorite part is watching the boats navigate through the canal and steer clear of one another.
I showed this short film to my family friend Ge’ez who is from Amsterdam and she said that she likes how the film showcases the city’s light festival (2:54 - 3:00), which she says is a great time to visit the city and recommends taking the light festival boat tour.
