A few weeks ago was Øyafestivalen in Oslo, Norway, an annual Norwegian music festival held in Tøyen Park that began in 1999. In this Stereogum review, author Rachel Brodsky shares how she believes Øyafestivalen stands in stark contrast to typical American festivals due to its clean, organized, and eco-conscious atmosphere. Featuring multiple stages within easy reach, limited overlapping sets, and a variety of fresh and healthy food options, Øyafestivalen epitomizes a humane and harmonious festival experience. For me, safety is my number one concern when heading to big events. It was nice to read how it was kept a priority at Øyafestivalen.
